JMS 1 Teaching Assistant required for 2015

The School of Journalism and Media Studies seeks to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant to assist with the facilitation of the Journalism and Media Studies 1 Programme. This post entails approximately four hours per day i.e. 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities include co-ordination of the JMS1 tutorial programme, tutor welfare and development, student-lecturer-tutor liaison, logistics, JMS1 administration in partnership with the AMM admin office, lecturer support, JMS2 applications, new parent consultations, correspondence, budget, plagiarism concerns, attendance and DP issues and anything which ensures the smooth running of the course.

Candidates should be available to commence no later than 1 February 2014. They should have a relevant Humanities degree with Honours/Masters as a minimum requirement. Previous tutoring experience would be an advantage. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills as well as an affinity for first year students and their particular needs are important qualities for this work.
